Home Our Approach Clinical Team

Clinical Therapy

At Hambrook, our Clinical Team plays an important role in supporting your child’s health and wellbeing, learning, and development.

The Hambrook school team includes a:

  • Occupational Therapist
  • Speech and Language Therapist
  • Clinical Psychologist
  • Assistant Psychologist (supervised by Clinical Psychologist)
  • Therapy Assistant (supports SaLT and OT)

Working together, we help young people with their communication, sensory differences, emotional regulation, and growing independence.

We follow the OFG neurodiversity affirming strategy Ask, Accept, Develop (AAD), which recognises and celebrates each young person’s unique strengths and supports development of self-advocacy and independence. We also use the 3 C’s approach (connect, co-regulate, and co-reflect) which helps staff understand how past experiences, including trauma, may influence behaviour. This strategy encourages calm, thoughtful support and helps build strong, trusting relationships with our pupils.

At the heart of our approach is the OFG clinical pyramid, which provides differentiated levels of therapeutic support within the specialist school setting. This allows us to match our support to the strengths, differences, and needs of each pupil. Therapeutic support is often embedded into the day allowing individuals to development and generalise skills learnt within the school environment. Where a therapeutic intervention is prescribed on a pupils EHCP, the Clinical team will assess, review and support those needs, either providing direct therapy where recommended or programmes to be carried out in a classroom environment.

As part of Outcomes First Group’s ‘ALL’ level of support, the Clinical team work collaboratively with education teams to offer integrated whole-school input to meet the needs of all pupils. This includes:

  • Staff training in 3 C’s and neurodiversity-focused approaches (AAD)
  • Supporting inclusive, communication-friendly and sensory-aware environments
  • Helping develop policies and guidance that promote well-being
  • Offering advice and guidance to staff to support our pupils’ profiles
  • Creating personalised documents such as ‘Communication Profiles’ and ‘My Sensory World’
  • Clinical Team attendance at school interagency meeting at least once per year

Our clinical team follows a high-quality, consistent approach that is tailored to the needs of each individual. We are committed to inclusion, equality, and diversity, and we work holistically to support all areas of a young person’s development. We are based on site at Hambrook school so we can collaborate closely with school staff and families, sharing information appropriately, and always follow professional and regulatory standards, so you can feel confident in the care your child receives.
